Building Safety Week 2019
Animator

About the project

We remind the public to pay attention to the safety of the windows of buildings for the Department of Buildings with cartoon animation. We aim to leave an impression to general public that windows, in particular, those which have been in use for long period of time, must be inspected regularly. In order to arouses the interests of all works of lives, we draw attention with videos with songs and animations. In this way, people may better remember the importance of regular windows inspections to ensure their own safety.

In the animation storyboard demo page, remind the public about building safety. We urge the public not to push windows hard. Instead, the public should find qualified contractors for check, repair or reinstall the windows. Otherwise, they may be penalized for falling objects from height.

First, we tried to break down the rough script provided by the client team into different scenes with scripts. The scripts tell the stories based on general storytelling rules and technical limitations.

We sketched the basic ideas on paper, then drew the characters in modern and contemporary way. Eventually, those sketches were redrawn in a simple and modern manner with Adobe Illustrator.

We created a number of characters for our clients to choose. These characters are drawn from different angles to imitate the advertising ideas in a clear, simplified and smooth way.

During the animation design process, we highlight the importance of cohesive storytelling instead of purely fading in or out of a scene. We make sure the audiences understand how a scenes shift from one place to another.
